Today I have been working on a painting for a magazine, the English Garden. The graduates of the Diploma in Botanical Illustration have been asked to do a series of specified paintings to illustrate articles to be written by Chris Beardshaw, of Gardeners World fame. He spoke at our graduation and thus saw our work at the Graduates exhibition so we are all delighted that he has remembered us and asked that we do the illustrations.
I am doing Ground Ivy and a Slow Worm - not the prettiest of creatures!!
I have exhibited 8 paintings to BISCOT, a competitive Botanical Art exhibition which is held at Gardening Scotland in Edinburgh. I was absolutely thrilled to receive a Silver Gilt medal for my work - I still can't believe it!
I have just finished a course on loose flower painting, quite a change for me and one that I enjoyed - and its much quicker! Below is my effort!
Well the Ground Ivy and Slow worm were published in the April edition of the English Garden and I am now working on a robin and misteltoe for the December copy.
